Provisional Perforations 1868/69: 4 d. cobalt-blue, wmk. '4', serrated perforation 19 at Hobart, a fine used example on 1869 cover to the Police Office in Launceston, cancelled by the mute obliterator of Hobart in black with "PRE-PAID" datestamp (Feb 22) in red alongside. Reverse with Launceston arrival of the same day. Slight soiling to the envelope but an extremely rare usage. Certs. Philatelic Foundation (1962), Ceremuga (2005)....

Signed in margin at base "A.McDonald 9 April 1870" alongside sheet serial number "43" (one day after the invoice for the Plate). Sideface 1870/71: 10 d. black, wmk. '10', perf. 12  by Walch & Sons, a used example, Imperforate between stamp and margin at left, with cto cancellation (Aug 19, 1902). Vertical bend along area perforations should be, otherwise fine and scarce.

Chalons 1871/91: 6 d. dull claret, wmk. '6', perf. 12, a used example on printed "On Public Service only" 1896 envelope to Birmingham with "Post & Telegraph Department / Tasmania" imprint at base tied by "Hobart / Tasmania" duplex (Sept 26) and framed "REGISTERED / HOBART" ennumerator in blue. London datestamp (Nov 3) on obverse and Birmingham arrival on the following day. An unusual usage.

Crown CC paper, an unused block of twelve (6 x 2), corner marginal from lower right of sheet with serial number "50" in margin, printed in brown-orange, unmounted og. Sideface 1889: 'Halfpenny' on 1 d. carmine, a horizontal pair used with Sideface 1 d. vermilion (5), sheet marginal 4 d. chrome-yellow and Postal Fiscal 3 d. chestnut pair all tied to registered 1889 cover addressed to the famous collector, Dorning Beckton, in Manchester tied by "100" numeral obliterators of "Corners" with cds at left (March 28) and straight line REGISTERED in black. Reverse with Launceston transit and Manchester arrival cds...

TAS, perf. 14, the unused set of ten values in blocks of four (½ d. to 10 d.) or horizontal strips of four (1 s. to £ 1), the 2 s. 6 d. and 5 s. both from the De La Rue records and dated and signed in the corner margins, the 10 s. and £ 1 values being sheet marginal, fresh colours and very fine, large part og. or unmounted og. Pictorial Issue 1899: De La Rue Die Proof for the 2 d. value, with photographic frame and inset vignette engraved in deep violet, with manuscript at upper right 'May 24th, 99' and handstamped '5 JUN 99' in green. Extremely rare Proof, two examples were made, one for approval submitted to the Crown Agents for the Colonies (this example), and the second retained by De La Rue for their records. Sideface 1903: Imperforate Plate Proof for 9 d. value, a horizontal pair printed in deep blue, printed on ungummed unwatermarked thick wove paper. The over-inking of the impressions indicates that this was not the work of De La Rue but more likely that of the Victorian printer experiencing problems with the Plate.rnrn
