Registered envelope addressed to London bearing China SG 504, $1, carmine tied by Shanghai date stamp 'Dec 10th 1939' with registered label, routed via Siberia with German censor label and endorsed 'Retour' and sent back from Germany to China. [This item was sent overland via Siberia and fell into German hands at a time when the USSR and Germany were not at war. As China was neutral the item not being capable of delivery to the UK from Germany was sent back to China with only the Retour mark written in.] Roughly opened.
