1854, 25c. blue "Empire nd", single franking on lettersheet from Gray to Metz, clearly oblit. by PC "1448" and c.d.s. "GRAY 6 JUIN 54" alongside, endorsed "8 gr.", insufficiently paid and therefore charged with 25c. (in ms. and handstamp), four different transit and arrival marks on reverse. The 25c. rate applied for a weight not to exceed 71/2 grams; 1/2 gram made the difference! Certificate Ceres/Loeuillet. (Maury 15)
