Mahé 1872/77: General Issue Cérès 10 c. brown on rose, a horizontal pair, margins shaved to fine, used on 1879 Formula card to Bordeaux tied by "INDE / MAHÉ" cds (Jan 2) and carried to Bombay to connect with the P&O "Sumatra" via Aden to Suez (Jan 18). From Alexandria, carried on the "Ceylon" to Brindisi and thence by rail with Bordeaux arrival (Jan 26) on reverse. An unusual usage from this small Settlement. Cert. RPSL (2009).
