lot # 4061 - brit. colonies st. helena
1884/94: ½ d. emerald, wmk. Crown CA, perf. 14, the 1884 printing, an unused example with variety "N" and "Y" of HALFPENNY spaced (Row 18, stamp 12, position 216), fresh and very fine, large part og. Normal for comparison, an extremely scarce stamp Gi = £ 1'100.rnNote: The overprint forme for the 'broad' Halfpenny was in five rows of 12 impressions. It is thought that all sheet were surcharged with the top five rows, then all sheets with a second application on the next five rows and so on. This would explain why some varieties occur four times on a sheet, for example the dropped "H", and others just once, for example the spaced "NY" from the last application of the forme.
