1828/39: Correspondence comprising 13 letters/documents sent from Port Louis to Nantes, France, addressed to Bourcard & Luther, pre-philatelic manuscript charge marks, with dispatch, transit and arrival postmarks. Contents pertaining to the state of business on the island, mainly the export and sale of mules. Mentions a cargo to Loire which arrived in the most pitiful state and which was not composed of choice beasts but still returned $230 each. Among the 60 beasts there were about 15 dead. Also mention of hurricanes, the price of sugar, the arrival of ships and the Colony is still flourishing. Mixed condition with some better, a scarce assembly.
