British Protectorate Oil Rivers 1892: Registration Envelope, 2 d. ultramarine, size H2, used with 1892 1 d. lilac strip of three, 2½ d. purple & blue, and 1 s. dull green, all overprinted "BRITISH PROTECTORATE / OIL RIVERS", sent from Brass to Sierra Leone, dated 9 November 1892, tied by "BRASS RIVER" circular datestamp in black with additional strike alongside, arrival datestamp on reverse "FREETOWN SIERRA LEONE" dated 25 November 1892, vertical filing creases well clear of adhesive, otherwise very fine. Rare combination and a very early use.
