By: Corinphila Auction AG
lot # 6184 - swaziland
1892 (April 3): Wrapper to Assen, Van Gorcum correspondence, franked with 1889 ½ d. grey with black overprint, ½ d. grey with carmine overprint, 1 d. carmine and 2 d. olive bistre, each tied to cover by crisp Bremersdorp squared circle, reverse with Johannesburg (7 April), Cape Town (11 Apr), London (28 Apr) and Assen (29 Apr) backstamps. Cover slightly reduced at top and filing folds clear of adhesives, of little importance given the scarcity of this pleasing franking, which correctly pays the 4 d. letter rate. Cert B.P.A. (1974).
Provenance: Collection Peter van der Molen, Spink London, May 20, 2015, lot 1086
