Russian P.O. in Beirut 1893 (March 24): Envelope from Beirut to Elberfeld, Germany, bearing 1890 10 kop. red & green perf. 14 1/4 : 14¾, tied by extremely early usage of small straight-date "R.O.P.iT. / BEIRUT" datestamp (Tchilinghirian fig 220) in violet, reverse with ODESSA transit and ELBERFELD arrival (April 22) cds's, both in black. Presumably a first usage if this datestamp.
