Ballon Monté No. 2 1870 (Sept 24): Entire letter endorsed at top 'Garde Mobile' sent stampless at free Military Concession rate to Lyon, struck with 'Paris / 60' datestamp (Sept 24) and framed 'P.P.' in black. Carried from beseiged Paris on the Ballon "La Ville de Florence" with reverse, flap missing, showing Lyon arrival cds (Oct 1). Interesting letter with content regarding Balloon flights as "seul moyen de communication" and discussing the building of fortifications in the Bois de Boulogne. Rare. Cert.
