lot # 8550 - bremen stamps
18(60)-66, 3 Grote black on blue-grey, type III, perforated, and 5 Grote black on matt grey-brown, type II, rouletted, 2nd printing run, both fresh colours but with inconspicuous defects, with slightly upward frame cancellations "BREMEN 9 2" (1867) on envelope from the famous Murtfeldt correspondence to Havana/Cuba. An imperforated 7 grote stamp (postage stamp) that had fallen off (possibly on the long upward journey) and was originally part of the complete postage paid was replaced decades ago for documentation purposes. Despite the imperfections, this is an impressive and as such unique letter that has adorned many famous collections over the years. A unique postage paid cover with all three issues. Certificate Neumann BPP (2023)
