Pre-Long Beach Auction #84

1800/798 S-190 R3 Overdate 800 over 978, Style I Hair VG10. Mostly glossy dark steel and chocolate brown. The hair details suggest a slightly higher grade, but there is a small patch of very fine roughness at IB in IBERTY and the remainder of the planchet shows extremely faint roughness under strong magnification. The eye appeal, however, is quite nice for the grade. No other defects. MDS, Breen state II, with die clashmarks at the neck. The 8 over 7 in the date is clear while the rest of the overdate is faint.
