Ionia, Teos. Electrum 1/12 Stater (1.22 g), ca. 625-600 BC Choice VF. Head of griffin right. Reverse: Square incuse punch with a series of five lines dividing the incuse. Matzke series 0; cf. Bodenstedt E1 T (Phokaia). Very Rare. Choice Very Fine.
The style of the griffin's head as well as the punch die with the dividing lines is quite unlike anything from Phokaia. The griffin's head, though, is identical to that found on the silver fractions from Teos. Estimated Value $600 - 800
