lot # 244 - le monde arabe the umayyad dynasty - ah 41-132 (661-750). an extraordinary collection of umayyad coinage.
A VERY RARE PATTERN. Hisham, AH 105-125 (724-743). Dirham AH 108 (726-27), al-Mubaraka. 2,87g. A 137 ; Klat 571a ; Shams Eshragh -. Type intéressant. Très bel exemplaire.
A type not found in Shams Eshragh, who does however mention two dirhams from this workshop dating from AH 108. The addition of a twisted circle around the border of the obverse is an innovation of the al-Mubaraka mint. It is only found on some coins from AH 107 and 108, suggesting that it was a short-lived essai that probably conflicted too visibly with the Umayyad authorities' desire for unification.
