ANCIENT INDIA: Harappan Primitive Money, ca. 3000-2500 BC, various sizes (15.15g), GROUP of 76 circular discs, varying from less than 3mm to over 12mm diameter, all with central hole, generally used for necklaces, but allegedly also for trade, given the great variety of size & weight, known from excavations at Harappan, plus two large thick similar rectangular objects, also with central holes, perhaps intended as end pieces for a bracelet or necklace, group of 76 pieces. A smaller group was offered for sale at the New York Auction XXV (January 2011), total weight 10.64g, which fetched $1700. Photo size reduced.
