1870 (Oct): Bantam ½ d. deep rose-red, plate 9, lettered BJ-BL / DJ-DL, an unused block of nine in a vibrant bright shade, fresh and very fine, minor corner crease to BL not affecting the appearance, superb large part og. with most stamps unmounted og. A fantastic block of great rarity and the largest mint block from plate 9 in private hands, ex 'Besançon' Gi = £ 54'000+.

1870 (Oct): Bantam ½ d. pl. 10, lettered EN-EX / ON-OX, an unused block of 121 stamps (11 x 11), of excellent colour and centering, imperforate at right, each stamp overprinted SPECIMEN (Type 9) in black. Fresh and very fine, superb large part or unmounted og. A truly astonishing block, the largest known Gi 4u = £ 27'225.

1870 (Oct 1): 1½ d. rose-red, plate 3, lettered DH-DJ / HH-HJ, an unused block of fifteen (3 x 5), of good colour, fresh and fine, typical gum cracking, large part or unmounted og. A scarce multiple - multiples from Plate 1 being significantly scarcer than those froom Plate 3 Gi = £ 7'500+.

Crimean War 1854: Embossed 6 d. mauve, used example with margins all round, applied over edge of 1855 mourning envelope from Lyndhurst to a Captain in the 13th Light Infantry in the Crimea, tied by "487" numeral obliterator in black, paying the Officer's rate. 1856 (March 29): 6 d. deep lilac on blued thick paper, watermark Emblems inverted, an imperforate Imprimatur on highly glazed paper, in a deep rich shade, fresh and very fine. Rare, whilst 24 examples were removed from the Plate 1 sheet Gi J70 = £ 6'500.

1863 (Sept 7): 4 d. bright red, Plate 4, with Hairlines, lettered BF, an imperforate Imprimatur, with large margins all round, unobtrusive crease on reverse not affecting the fine appearance, a fresh and most appealing stamp with large part og. Rare, just 22 stamps removed from the Imprimatur sheet and of perfect pedigree. Cert. RPSL (2008) Gi J53 = £ 4'000.

1864 (April 20): 6 d. lilac, Plate 4, wmk. Emblems upright, with Hairlines, lettered DL, an unused example variety "Imperforate", large margins all round, fresh and very fine, unused without gum. A very rare stamp: especially so with upright watermark - Galland & Louis in 'Surface Printed Stamps' record just 12 examples. Cert. RPSL (1989) Gi J72g = £ 4'750 / Gi 85Eb = £ 3'500.

1865 (July 4): 4 d. dull vermilion, Plate 8, imperforate Plate Proof on thin un-watermarked, un-gummed paper, lettered NI, with large margins all round and of fine colour. Rare: the Karl Louis Card Index records a pane of 20 in private hands, another in the National Postal Museum (Vol. XXXI, page 45) and just 10 single examples Gi J55 = £ 2'200.

1878 (April 25): De La Rue Die Proof for 10 s. value in black on glazed white card, with uncleared Corner Letters and Plate Number, the scratches on the face of the Die in the POSTAGE tablet have been reduced since 16-18 April Proof; heavy line under nose and outer lines not sharp, but the NW letter square repaired; handstamped "Apr. 25, 1878" in black. A rare and very fine Proof Gi J124 = £ 3'500.
