"El Sol de Mayo" 1856 (Oct 1): Carrier 60 c. deep blue, thin figures, a fine example (position 30 with "ç" in DILIGENCIA on the plate of 35 subjects) just touched on two framelines but sheet marginal at right (one of just two examples of this stamp on letter showing sheet margin), in a rich shade, uncancelled on 29 December 1857 entire letter from Montevideo to Mercedes. A stamp of superb appearance, the entire with two file folds and some splits at folds otherwise a marvellous example of this rare adhesive on letter. R. A.
