1849: Cover front to Hobart Town endorsed "Pd. 4d." in red manuscript ink, struck at left with two line manuscript dated "MACQUARIE PLAINS / POST OFFICE / 20.8.49" in black. Hobart half-round "PAID / 21 AU 21 / 1849" in red of arrival. A superb strike of this very rare marking - the earliest recorded.rnProvenance: Collection Lewis C.
