1840: 1 d. black, pl. 3, lettered LC, a superb large margined example showing portion of adjoining stamp at right, used from London to Hexham on Mulready 1 d. wrapper, stereo A8, tied by crisp strike of Maltese Cross in red. Reverse with despatch cds (June 9, 1840) in black. Contents from Lincoln's Inn explain the double rate "We enclose Office copies of these acknowledgements...".
