British Post Office 1855 (Aug. 1): Entire letter from Buenos Aires to Cadiz, endorsed 'pr. Canarias' at top, struck with 'Buenos-Ayres' British P.O. cds on reverse (Aug. 2) and, on obverse by fine strike of "♚ / PAID AT BUENOS AYRES" handstamp in black with manuscript prepayment '1/-' in red ink at left. Disinfected by slits and reverse with 'Santa Cruz de Canarias' cds (Sept. 4) in red and charged with circular '4R' in same ink, Cadiz arrival cds (Sept. 28) and charged at '8R' due in blue over the 4 R. marking. A fine and attractive entire Scott = $ 900 / Gi = £ 850.
