Recess by Perkins Bacon 1856 (Jan 1): 6 d. blue, wmk. Large Star, imperforate, a used example on 1862 cover to London, Goodman correspondence, endorsed "St. Helena Ship", large margins on three sides and just shaved at right, the adhesive cancelled in red with oval "ST. HELENA" datestamp (Dec 9) in red at left, a late usage for red cancellations. Obverse with London arrival cds (Jan 26, 1863) in red and crayon "5" (1 d. for St. Helena, 1 d. for UK and 4 d. for ship rate). A rare and most attractive #1 cover.rnrnProvenance: Collection 'I.D.
