1894 (Feb): 'Orangutan' selection of five printer's sample stamp for the 4 c. black & blue-green. Comprising three complete miniature sheets of nine with each unit having a small security punched hole and 'WATERLOW & SONS LTD: / SPECIMEN' overprint (Type WS1) one which has minor bends but all fine appearance and fresh. Come with two imperforate examples unpunched and showing two different specimen overprints one with a stop after specimen and the other without the stop after Ltd. The latter which is affixed to sample book piece with 'S.T.719' reference number above, the other affixed to piece. Additionally, an imperforate Proof of the 10 c. Sun Bear in deep brown & reddish lilac on thick wove and not an example seen before. A fine and rare group (6).
