1856: 6 d. deep lilac, plate 1, horizontal pair and one single, used on cover in combination with 1862 4 d. red, plate 3, without hair lines, from London to Paris, France, dated 7 July 1862, tied by black London '12' in barred oval, with 'PD' oval in red and Calais transit double circle datestamp in black (8 July) alongside. To reverse a London mark and a Paris arrival in black (8 July 1862). The single 6 d. has a corner crease top right and a short perf. Otherwise fine. The 1s 4d rate is up to 1 oz. plus a 6d late fee. Rare. Only recorded example of a 1856 6 d. used with 1862 4 d. to pay double rate to France with 6d late fee.
