1881 (Dec 13): 1 d. lilac, wmk. Crown, perf. 14, use on cover, from London to Burton, dated 23 October 1886, tied by the rare London Ethridge Experimental Machine cancel in black. To the reverse an arrival cds Burton Westmoreland in black (Oct 24). There is an embossed 'Waterlow Bros & Layton' to flap. Opening tears top front which are well clear of the adhesive. A fine cover and excellent strike of this rare cancel.
