1840: 1 d. intense black, plate 2, lettered EH, used on large fragment, dated 24 May 1840, the third Sunday, Wigan datestamp in red to back, cancelled by red Maltese Cross, four close to large margins, slightly irregular at top, a good to fine example of this rare date of use SG AS14th = £6'500 for stamp on cover.
