French Post Office in Smirna 1873: Entire letter from Smirna to Messina, Sicily endorsed "via Palermo", sent unpaid from the French PO with "SMYRNE / TURQUIE" despatch cds (Sept 19), taxed upon arrival with "18" handstamp in black and correspondingly franked by Italy 1870 Postage Due 30c. and single and pair of the 50 c. all tied by Messina cds's (Sept 22). A few small imperfections but an unusual entire.
