1840 1d black V.R. Official, JF, The famous “Largentiere” cover, first recorded in 1899, used on entire from London to Tetbury, Gloucestershire, dated 3 Jul 1840, the stamp with large balanced margins all round, tied by red Maltese cross, incredibly the stamp and portion of the top right corner of the entire were at some time removed then thankfully reattached at a later date to preserve this magnificent rarity widely regarded as the finest "VR" cover of the very few examples known, a major exhibition show piece and without a doubt, one of the most important covers of British Philately.
