½ Groschen orange with cancellation "AUERBACH IM VOGTLANDE 23.XII.72" on official postcard form with cloth sample stuck on the reverse, returned to the sender by the postal clerk and the 2nd attempt with reconsignment the next day ⅓ Groschen green with boxed cancel "AUERBACH IM VOGTLANDE 24.XII.72" as postage for a sample of goods sent to Leipzig with an arrival postmark of 25 December on the face. According to Reich Postal Administration decision no. 24, postcards with samples of goods attached were not permitted for dispatch; sending them a day later as a sample of goods postcard was presumably a compromise between the postal clerk and the sender, but was also not permitted.
