REEFTON PROVISIONAL 3d, prepared in GREYMOUTH but used in WANGANNI, probably by Inspector Wilson at the police station, fine used on piece. With supporting 1993 article in American Philatelist (1993), signed letter by Warwick Paterson of Campbell Paterson (1998) guaranteeing this very stamp, and page and photo plate from CP Specialised Catalogue, which again illustrates this particular stamp. Other 3d stamps have received RPS (NZ) Certificates of Genuiness from CP, stating them to be Reefton Provisionals but 'incorrectly postmarked … possibly used by favour'. RARE!
