Elagabalus, AD 218-222. Bronze Medallion (35 mm; 24.1 g). Colonial issue of Thrace, Philippopolis. Issued for the Pythian Games. Raidate, draped and cuirassed bust right of Elagabalus. Reverse: Octostyle temple with colonnaded side porch in perspective left; shield over sword in pediment. Varbanov 1658 (same dies as illustrated); Mouchmov, Philippolis --. Excellent dark green patina and struck on a nice full broad medallic flan. A lovely specimen. About Extremely Fine.
