("Simon") on two sides; star above facade of the Jerusalem Temple, showbread table (?) seen from end in center of entrance. Reverse: ("for the freedom of Jerusalem"); Lulav with etrog at left. Overstruck on a tetradrachm of Antioch with eagle seen on reverse. Hendin 1411; Mildenberg 55. Nicely toned. About Very Fine.

Reverse: COL BER, two legionary eagles within wreath. Cf. Sawaya 1087/1091 (D209/R422; die combination not recorded); Rouvier 532; SNG Copenhagen 100 (same obv. die); BMC 97; RPC 3855. Dark green and brown patina with sandy highlights. Very Fine.

It is possible that this coin is Sawaya 1089, with obverse die D209 and uncertain reverse die. Unfortunately, the coin is not illustrated.

Dark green patina with subtle sandy highlights around the devices. Choice Very Fine.

RPC records just one specimen of this type, from the Rosenberger collection, and there are no additional examples in the various supplements to date. CNG recently sold a second example (see CNG E360, 258). Of the three, this is by far the nicest.
