1856 N-2 R1 Italic 5 MS60. Glossy steel brown and light chocolate with slightly darker medium chocolate brown toning on the portrait. Traces of faded mint color show in protected areas on the reverse. The only marks are a streak of lighter golden tan toning on the cheek (caused by incomplete mixing in the planchet alloy) and two tiny nicks in the field over star 1. MDS, die state d. A fine die crack meanders from the dentils through the left point of star 8 into the hair below ending at the E in LIBERTY.
