Theodosius II, AD 402-450. Gold Solidus (4.42g). Struck at Thessalonica, AD 408-20. Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Theodosius II, three-quarter face to right, holding spear and shield. Reverse: Constantinopolis, helmeted, seated facing, head r., holding sceptre and Victory on globe, right foot on prow, mint mark; star in left field. Without officina mark at end of reverse legend and with mint mark COM OB in ex. MIRB 52b; Sear 21128. Very scarce. NGC Choice AU; Strike: 5/5, Surface: 3/5, wavy flan. Estimated Value $600 - 800
