1939, P. #8b, Palestine Currency Board, £5 Five Pounds, 20th April 1939, red serial number: D853461, The White Tower at Ramleh at left, value at center and at each corner, Caulcutt, Ezechiel and H. Downie signatures, reverse the Citadel of Jerusalem and the Tower of David at center, (Dabbah p.167), folded few places, fine condition. special story behind this faded pink banknote as published in the article "Mandate Essays" By Igal Arkin; In 1946 some pink banknotes of 5 pound were found, at first the Council Of The Palestine paper money thought it is fake but assumption was refuted because it had watermark. They contacted the factory in England and tested the banknote, found out it passed some chemical process, means it was attempted to fake. See original article in Hebrew - attached.
