Carried to Paris on the steamer "Alps" (Hamburg America Line) and internally annotated thus. Receipt inside signed in Paris (June 4) and then returned to Haiti...

1887 (Feb): New Dies 5 c. deep green on white, perf. 13½, two used examples on 1888 single rate cover from Aux Cayes to Hamburg, Germany endorsed "per Steamer Flachat" (Compagnie Générale Transatlantique) at left and tied by "UNION-PAYS D'OUTREMER / LE HAVRE" circular datestamps of transit (March 7). Hamburg arrival cds (March 9) on reverse. Slightest envelope restoration at right but a scarce and most attractive cover and usage.

Obverse with framed "R" for registration and "Calais a Paris" ambulante (Sept 17) and reverse witth Paris arrival cds of the following day. A fine and rare cover.

1884/86: The set of six perforated values, as sent to the UPU oin mid 1886 (see article by Brian Moorhouse, Edition D'Or volume 50, pages 66-67), each on piece from the album ratined by the Natal Post Office and each handstamped "SPECIMEN." in blackish-vioplet ink. Noticeably the BPA certificate from 1981 is no longer with the lot. Unique.
