1812 (Jan 16): Entire letter from Rio de Janeiro to Lisbon from Da Conde de Cavalleiros, Governor of Minas Gerais & Baia, struck with dried "CORo. DO R. DE JANRO." in black (P-RJ-33), the first marking of Rio de Janeiro and the latest recorded date of use, the entire rated "80" reis due to pay in red ink. Scarce and early entire.

1832 (Dec 4): Entire letter from Maranhão to Lisbon endorsed "Galèra Luiz", struck with superb oval "MARANHAO" handstamp in black (P-MA-06) in black, with italic oval "C. Est. de N." applied on arrival (Correio Estrangeiro de Navio) and rated "160" reis due, both in red. Superb and rare thus.

The cover with filing folds well away from adhesive and datestamp, some tropicalisation not distracting at all from the extreme rarity of this franking...
