Lithographed by A. Hillman 1855 (Jan-Oct): Hillman 1 s. grey-brown, wmk. Swan sideways, an unused horizontal pair in a resonant shade (Row 1, stamps 1-2, Pane C, positions 11-12), showing the upper marginal lined watermark, huge margins on three sides, just clear at right, unused without gum. A very fine and attractive multiple Gi = £ 1'600+.

The Printing Stone for the Two pence, of 240 impressions, was prepared from an Intermediate Stone of 18 (3 x 6), now in the Western Australia Museum in Perth (and illustrated in "Western Australia" on page 52), which in turn was built up from an initial transfer of 3 impressions. Of these, position 1 and 2 are touching and transfer type 3 has the word "PENCE" 9.7 mm. long as against 8.5 mm, and the words "TWO PENCE" nearly 1 mm. longer. Many...

The Six Pence adhesive was similarly printed from a Stone of 240 impressions, lithographed by Alfred Hillman, made up from an intermediate Stone of 12 (4 x 3). The twelve types of each setting were first described by Sir Edward Bacon in the "London Philatelist" (Volume XXXIII, December 1924, No 396) and his types are used in the following descriptions. 1857 (Aug 7): 6 d. golden bronze (Type 12), imperforate, a used example with clear to just shaved margins, unusually cancelled in red most probably with the Albany "14" grid obliterator. An attractive example of a very rare stamp Gi = £ 2'500.

1859: 6 d. grey-black, imperforate, a used example (Type 4), with clear to large margins all round and rare thus, cancelled with Bowra circle and bars numeral "6" obliterator of Albany in black (probable). A scarce stamp Gi = £ 600.

Lithographed by A. Hillman 1858 (Feb 26): 2 d. black on red, wmk. Swan sideways, rouletted 7½ - 14 and compound, a used example (Type 1), of exceptional centering for this issue and large portion of the adjoining stamp at right, cancelled by Bowra circle and bars numeral "1" of Perth in black. A wonderful example of this rare stamp in superb quality Gi = £ 2'000.
