Auction 333-341 Nigeria, Cameroon, Sudan & Worldwide Postal History - Day 4

Niger Coast Protectorate 1894: OPOBO Provisional '½' in blue on right side of vertical half of 1 d. orange-vermilion, a used example, tied to a small piece by an "OPOBO RIVER" circular datestamp in black (OC 29, 94). A couple of perf. imperfections to side, otherwise fine. A very scarce stamp with approx 80 stamps possible. Cert. Brandon (1994) Gi = £ 550+.

Niger Coast Protectorate 1894: Old Calabar Provisional surcharge ½ d. on 2½ d. blue, an unused right side marginal example, variety "OIE for ONE", large part og. Vibrant colour, some gum wrinkling and a vertical paper kink centrally in top margin. Fine appearance. Rare stamp. Cert. RPSL (1931) Gi = £ 2'000.

1913: De La Rue Die Proof for the 10 s. value, frame only, printed on glazed white card, dated "13 NOV. 00" in blue and struck with "BEFORE / HARDENING" in black. Minor soiling, nonetheless a fine and scarce Proof.

Booklets 1907: King Edward VII, G.P.O. sold at 2 s., with black on red covers, four panes of six 1. d, complete, very fine, minor imperfections to cover, a rare booklet SB3 Gi = £ 2'000.

1917: 10 s. green & red, on blue-green chalk-surfaced paper, with pale olive back, wmk. Multiple Crown CA, perf. 14, unused, original gum, fresh and very fine appearance. A scarce stamp. Cert. BPA (2013) Gi = £ 1'100.

1927: £1 purple & black on red chalk-surfaced paper, wmk. Multiple Crown CA, die II, bottom left corner marginal control "16" horizontal pair, original gum, fresh vibrant example, very fine to superb, creasing in left margin and one pulled perf. top, beautiful piece. Much scarcer than catalogue suggests, especially in this condition Gi= £ 550+ as two singles.

Booklets 1921: King George V, sold at 4 s, with black on red covers, bearing two panes of six of the 1 d. red and three panes of six of the 2 d. green, complete, although one vertical pair of the 1 d. and three of the 2 d. (third row) have detached and been reinforced by hinges and some separation to others in places, rusting from the staples and soiling. A rare booklet; very difficult to locate complete SB2a Gi = £ 2'000.

1914/53: Excellent inventory from King George V to Queen Elizabeth II. The stockbook contains both used and unused stamps, featuring many valuable stamps up to pound denominations, including, many better. This stock includes variations in perforations, varieties, colours, and also plate numbers etc. High catalogue value and meticulously selected fine condition!

1885/1907: Dealer stock of small-sized postal stationery postcards from the historic colonies of Lagos, Oil Rivers, and Southern Nigeria. 1900/30ca: Collection of picture postcards from Cameroon and Nigeria, encompassing regions such as Lagos, Northern, and Southern Nigeria. The collection features ethnographic topics as well as landscapes and colonial achievements. The Cameroonian cards are typically franked with stamps and have circulated, whereas the Nigerian cards are most often unused. In total, the collection includes approximately 250 pieces.
