Auction 333-341 Europe & Overseas - Day 5

1934 (April 23): Centenary of British Colonisation, the delghtul collection on three album pages with perforated SPECIMEN set of ten (Gi = £ 475), the unused set of ten values (Gi = £ 425), the three high values 2 s. 6 d., 5 s. used and a further 10 s. unused (Gi = £ 480); together with three fine covers, one of which is taxed on arrival in the USA. A charming collection (27 items).

1861/80: Group five adhesives in unused condition, primarily with original gum and vibrant colours, incl. 1861 6 d. blue in a horizontal pair with rough perf. 14-16, 1873 ultramarine, this with no gum, 1868 1 s.- deep gree type b, line pers. 12.5, and 1880 6 d. milky blue line perf. 14. A most appealing ensemble Gi 2a, 16a, 18, 29 = £ 2'700.

1908 (May): 10 s. green & red on green, wmk. Crown CC, perf. 14, an unused example, of vivid colour, variety ''Damaged frame and crown', positioned slightly low left, of fine appearance, large part of og. Scarce Gi = £ 2'000.

1961 (Oct.12): Tristan Relief Fund set of four values, 2½ c.+3 d., 5 c.+6 d., 7½ c.+9 d., 10 c.+1 s., in used condition, all cancelled by a "ST HELENA" cds in black. Some climatic discolouration, otherwise fine. A presentable set of this scarce issue. Cert. E.Diena (1992) Gi = £ 3'500.

1961 (Oct 12): Tristan Relief Fund 7½ c.+9 d. black & rose-carmine, surcharge Type 49, wmk. Multi St Edward's Crown CA, perf. 13, a used example of fresh fine colour, cancelled by a St Helena cds (Oct 12 ) first day of issue. Cert. BPA (2012). Fine and scarce stamp Gi = £ 1'300.

1943 (Sept 5): Fieldpost envelope from an Italian serviceman located in Albania bearing Imperiale 50 c. violet and 50 c. Airmail brown, both with handpainted 'P.M.' mimicking the usage of Fieldpost stamps, tied by "POSTA MILITARE N. 60" datestamp, the letter directed to Cosenza, where arrived with a delay of seven month in April 1944. Note: Usage of Posta militare adhesives was obligatory in Albania and the sender...

1912/74: Substantial lot comprising a collection on preprinted pages, including 6 Eagles from 1912 (not guaranteed) and many later genuine, better  sets. Additionally, there is a partly complementary collection housed in a stockbook. A box contains stockcards featuring sets, souvenir sheets, and both commercial and philatelic covers and cards, including 3 sets with '7 Mars' overprints from 1914 - two used and one on a stationery postcard....

1931/33: Lot six Airmail covers from Italy to Albania & three coming from Albania, one to Greece, two the Vatican. Nice lot.

1852/1960ca: BENELUX, small accumulation of stamps and covers from all three concerne countries, the princpal value resides in Orval souvenir sheets from 1941, imperforate 34x, perforated 31x and (Michel = €1300), occupation of Germany unused set 1919, Belgian Congo picture postcards. Some sets from the netherlands and a few classics from Luxembourg.

1882 (Dec 2): 5 stotinki green & pale green, the mint selection on album page with first order in deep green including a block of four (all Type I), second order in a more greyish green shade with mint examples (7) incl. a bluish green example, together with the third order printing incl. two blocks of four (all Type I), and fourth order with two blocks of four (one all Type II, the other with mixed Types), together with a fine single...

1882 (Dec 2): 15 stotinki reddish violet & pale lilac, album pages with the original printing in a very deep shade with pale background, single and block of four with mixed Type I and Type II, second order of June 26, 1884 in paler shades unused (4, incl. a Type II on thin paper), third order of May 25, 1885 in the more usually encountered shade of reddish violet in a complete pane of 25 from upper right of sheet unused (all stamps are...

1882 (Dec 2): 30 stotinki violet & pale green, album page with first order mint (3), third order of May 25, 1885 with block of four with mixed Types I and II, (the 30 st. value was not included in the second order of 1884), fourth order of August 26, 1886 with light blue-green background with block of four (all Type I), a block of six and an 'Obrasetz' (Specimen) overprint example (11 items).
