Clodius Albinus, AD 195-197. AE Sestertius (24.7g), minted at Rome as Caesar, c. AD 194-195, by Septimius Severus. Bare head right of Clodius Albinus. Reverse Minerva standing left, holding spear, shield and palm branch. RIC 54(a) [as Rare]; BMC 535. Reddish-brown patina with detailed portrait and on a nice round flan. Some smoothing in the fields, especially on the reverse. Very Fine.
This emperor's coinage as Augustus is rarer than the issues struck as Caesar under Septimius Severus.
