1863/72: 4 d. rose pair and 1 s. yellow pair, used on 1875 registered entire letter to Nantes endorsed "per Str. Dupleix", tied by "B53" obliterators in black with oval "REGISTERED / MAURITIUS" despatch in blue and framed "R" in black. Carried on the French steamer "Dupleix" to Aden and "Hoogly" to Marseille. Octagonal "Pos. An. V. Suez / P.F. Amb. Mars" entry marking in red (Jan 5, 1876). The 1 s. pair affected by file fold but a very rare cover - the Tariff of 1875 rate of 1 s. 4 d. for under ½ ounce + registration fee of 1 s. 4 d; the letter arriving in the first week France joined the UPU.
