1873/81: De La Rue Essay for proposed 2 d. value, stamp size on brown thin tracing paper (70 x 97 mm.), handpainted in purple-brown and deep purple with NEW SOUTH WALES, STAMP DUTY and TWO PENCE all picked out in Chinese white. Imperforate "De La Rue" engine turning label applied at base for proposed colour with "£1 Tel." above in pencil manuscript; however utilised for the issued 1880 2 d. Revenue.
