1870 (Sept 3): Cover from Havana to Paris with "NEW YORK / 12" transit (Sept 8) in black, mailed via London (Sept 19) where "GB / 2F.-" Accountancy marking applied in black. Calais transit (Sept 20) and address deleted and mailed to Bordeaux as Paris was under Siege by the Prussian Army. Handstruck "8" décimes due with Bordeaux cds (Dec 31) on reverse of a most unusual cover. Ex the Brian Moorhouse estate.
