Auction 333-341 Europe & Overseas Americas (North, Central & South America) - Day 1

1873ca.: French Consular Mail, piece with three-colour franking of the perforated Ceres Type, comprising 10 c., 40 c., and 80 c., tied by a probable private cancel "AGENCE DE GUYAQUIL STC" ( 'STC' in ornate, monogram-like letters) in blue colour. According to a Moorhouse certificate from 2012, this is a known cancel on the first issues of Ecuador. Moorhouse suggests that the cancel originated from the French consular office or a shipping agent in Guayaquil. Believed to be the only recorded piece or cover with the complete rate of 1 fr. 30 c to Europe. (Photocopy of Harri's list, page 57 joined to the lot).
