Auction 333-341 Western Australia & Great Britain - Day 3

1873: 6 d. grey, plate 12, lettered AC, large white letters, in combination with 1 s. green, plate 8, lettered IF, coloured letters, used on cover, from Dundee, Scotland to Lima, Peru, dated 1 January 1874, tied by Dundee '114' duplex in black, endorsed 'per Mail via Southampton'. To the reverse a faint Lima arrival in black (16 February). Central horizontal filing crease well clear of the adhesives, otherwise minor stains. A fine and scarce mixed franking.
Note: The transition from white to coloured corner letters extended over several years, with mixed franking occuring often, but just twelve 6 d. grey/1 s. green (coloured letters) usages are recorded.
