Auction 333-341 Western Australia & Great Britain - Day 3

1857 (Jan.): 4 d. deep-rose, white paper, wmk. Large Garter, perf. 14, horizontal pair, Wing margin left, used on cover, London to Nelson, New Zealand, dated Valentines Day 1858 (Feb.14), tied by the Pearson Hill Parallel Motion fourth Trial duplex cancel, Type IV in black, Code B, with both a Wellington and Nelson, New Zealand datestamp in black alongside (MY 23 & JU 1). Some wrinkling, light creasing and a small slit through cover to the top left well clear of adhesives. A rare example; only recorded overseas usage of this postmark on cover.
Note: This duplex was in use for only 2 months and exhibits the modified 'A B' Date Code.
