Auction 333-341 Western Australia & Great Britain - Day 3

1876: Recess by De La Rue from the Perkins Bacon Plates, 1 d. scarlet and 6 d. blue-green, wmk. Crown CC, perf. 14, each in a horizontal pair, used on 1877 cover from St. John's to Gorlitz, Prussia tied by "A02" obliterators in black with '1/½' credit in red crayon at left and 'London / Paid' transit cds below (Feb 12). Reverse with 'Antigua' cds (Jan 26) and Niesky arrival (Feb 14) in black. The adhesives with minor age stains on two, but a charming and colourful cover to a most unusual destination.
