Auction 333-341 Nigeria, Cameroon, Sudan & Worldwide Postal History - Day 4

1853 (Sept): 1 d. brick-red on slightly blued paper, a block of four with ample to large margins all round, used on 1854 cover to London endorsed "p. Queen of South", tied by CGH triangular obliterators in black. Reverse with "CAPE TOWN / CAPE OF GOOD HOPE" despatch cds (Jan 21) and London arrival (Feb 27) both in red; charged "1/-" due upon receipt. Slight soiling but a scarce usage.
