1843 (Aug 1): 30 reis black, Intermediate Impression, two horizontal pairs, margins large on one and shaved on the other, used on reverse of 5 December 1844 entire letter from Rio de Janeiro to Victoria, tied by two strikes of CORREIO GERAL DA CORTE circular datestamps with inverted "3/21" - error for 8/12 - and upright "1844". Some minor creasing and small faults but a very rare franking for the single 120 reis Maritime rate. Illustrated in "Bull's Eyes on Covers" by Bernd Juchert on page 88 - just two other covers are recorded with the rate paid by four examples of the 30 reis. Cert. Juchert (2024).
