British Protectorate 1815-1864 1857: Cover and contents from Cefalonia to London endorsed "via Trieste et Belgique", struck on despatch with hooded "CEFALONIA" datestamp in blue (March 28) and prepaid "3" pence for Ionian rate in red manuscript; thence via Austrian steamer with "9/9" (kreuzers) in manuscript, framed "6¼" (silver groschen) handstruck in blue in Trieste (Van der Linden fig. 3092) in transit. Staffordshire Militia embossed crest on reverse and charged "1s." due on arrival (April 7).
